چکیده

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most frequent type of oral cancer multifactorial origin, characterized by histological and clinical manifestations. To date, there are no specific biomarkers or treatment modalities available to efficiently manage this neoplasia, demanding further research on molecular background OSCC pathology. Elucidation signal transduction pathways associated molecules with differential expression function in expected enhance future development targeted therapies. Among signaling proteins a potential functional role OSCC, High Mobility Group Box 1 (HMGB1) protein has stimulated scientific interest due upregulation, implication progression many types head neck types. HMGB1 nuclear nonhistone an extracellularly secreted cytokine that can interact several implicated pathogenic OSCC. Binding receptors cells such as receptor AGE (RAGE) toll-like (TLR) been shown initiate intercellular cascades promote growth, invasion, metastasis, indicating target for patient prognosis therapeutic approaches. The purpose review explore order reveal targeting options.

Masquerader: high mobility group box-1 and cancer.

Since its identification a third of a century ago, the high-mobility group box-1 (HMGB1) protein has been linked to varied diverse cellular processes, including release from necrotic cells and secretion by activated macrophages engulfing apoptotic cells. Initially described as solely chromatin-associated, HMGB1 was additionally discovered in the cytoplasm of several types of cultured mammalian ...

The dual role and therapeutic potential of high-mobility group box 1 in cancer

High-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) is an abundant protein in most eukaryocytes. It can bind to several receptors such as advanced glycation end products (RAGE) and Toll-like receptors (TLRs), in direct or indirect way. The biological effects of HMGB1 depend on its expression and subcellular location. Inside the nucleus, HMGB1 is engaged in many DNA events such as DNA repair, transcription, telom...

The role of High Mobility Group Box 1 (HMGB1) in colorectal cancer

BACKGROUND HMGB1, the most important member of the high mobility group box protein family, is a nuclear protein with different functions in the cell; it has a role in cancer progression, angiogenesis, invasion, and metastasis development. We studied the expression of HMGB1 and whether it is a prognostic factor in colorectal carcinoma. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study included 110 cases that wer...

Activation of Toll-Like Receptors 2 by High-Mobility Group Box 1 in Monocytes from Patients with Ischemic Stroke

Background: Stroke is a leading cause of death all around the world, and ischemic stroke is considered to be the most common stroke type. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are important molecules for detection of both pathogen invasion and tissue damage. In this regard, the purpose of this study was to assess the expression level of TLR2 on monocytes in patients with ischemic stroke and to evaluate th...
